NEXT BY D TWINCITIES (NEXXT) is a platform for designers and enterprises to work together and make new ideas come true. Our role was to provide material sourcing and production service, bringing all designers’ concepts to life.

One of the brands we worked with was 1983ASIA, a design brand founded in 2012 by Yao from Malaysia and Susu from China. Our collaboration was to combine elements of Han clothing and the lapel of western suits, in which we took care of material sourcing, product development and production. The end-products were representations of exquisite craftsmanship upon repeated discussions with the designers. To show some lively “Jing yan (京燕)” or the swallows on the products, for example, we tried a more difficult way by hand stitching large pieces of sequins on top of the clothing, while the fabric was embossed with feather-like texture. It required skills and a lot of time. Yet, we managed to complete this piece of artwork in a short time.

We had another collaboration with designers from SANYI, which uses four remote planets Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune as their main theme. They showed different characteristics of the planets on suits and vests. Designers’ views and feelings were expressed through the use of rich and contrasting colors. Therefore, the most challenging part was to source materials as carefully as possible, to match with the colours in the original design. After many attempts, we successfully completed an eye-catching work within a short time.
